What is remote pilot training in India?
Remote pilot training is the process of acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitude to operate a drone or a remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) in India. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the regulatory body for civil aviation in India, remote pilot training is mandatory for anyone who wants to fly a drone above 250 grams in India.
Remote pilot training consists of theory, simulator and practical sessions that cover topics such as drone regulations, airspace management, flight planning, safety procedures, emergency situations, drone maintenance and more. Remote pilot training also includes an examination and a skill test to assess the competence of the remote pilot.
Remote pilot training can be obtained from any of the DGCA approved Remote Pilot Training Organisations (RPTOs) that are listed on the Digital Sky website.
